I wanted to create a birthday card in Word and in order to print correctly I needed to rotate a text box 90 degrees anti clockwise containing the greeting.
After a lot of searching I concluded that it’s not possible to rotate a text box unless you copy it and paste it into a new document as an image. Then you can rotate the image. Trouble with that is that there is significant loss in the quality of the graphics which makes for poor printing.
Anyway, silly me the answer was there all along – you can’t rotate a text box but you can rotate the text inside the text box!
- Double click the text box to select it and open the Format tab
- On the Format tab, in the Text group select Text Direction
. Clicking Text Direction multiple times will cycle through the three options
