How to restart and check the status of the GroundWork Monitor services ‘gwservices’ and ‘nagios’ in GroundWork Monitor Community Edition


Open a terminal window or command shell as root.

To check the status of gwservices type:

/usr/local/groundwork/ctlscript.sh status gwservices

The response should be:

Checking for gwservices: [ running ]

If gwservices needs restarting then type:

/usr/local/groundwork/ctlscript.sh restart gwservices

To check the status of nagios type:

/usr/local/groundwork/ctlscript.sh status nagios

The response should be:

nagios already running

If nagios needs restarting then type:

/usr/local/groundwork/ctlscript.sh restart nagios
